Job Description
Veterinary Surgeon. Berri, Australia. Salary from £52k DOE
You are a good vet and all you want to do is care for and look after animals. You can’t think of a time when you didn’t.
But the industry is changing, increased paperwork, production line consults, and less time spent with the patient, is not what you signed up for.
You want to be ‘On the tools,’ it's what you enjoy the most, helping, advising, and being the best vet you can be.
Fancy a fresh challenge on the other side of the world?
With the outdoor lifestyle, the mountains, the beaches, the long blue-sky days, and their ‘happy-go-lucky’ attitude to life Australia has it all.
Tempted, then read on.
A privately owned, well-established, 24-hour emergency, mixed practice hospital is hiring another Veterinarian to join their multi-vet team. A vet with a minimum of 3 years experience, somebody who is happy with more complicated surgeries, is comfortable mentoring some of the New Grads, and a potential Head Vet of the future.
With a loyal client base and outstanding reputation (check out their 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reviews on Google) they have a diverse and interesting caseload, mainly small animals with some large animals and wildlife work.
There are plenty of opportunities to develop your skills here, complex soft tissue and orthopaedic procedures are undertaken regularly. The practice owner is an experienced surgeon and enjoys mentoring and teaching.
This position provides a great opportunity for growth and development, with special interests and passions supported and encouraged. They’re interested in improving all their team and investing in them. Because it’s mutually beneficial.
The majority of vets who’ve started their careers at this practice are still working within the veterinary profession. Not many practices can say that!
This role consists of a four-day week inclusive of early finishes and late starts before/after on-call shifts. After-hours support is provided through senior vets, scheduled nurses, and Medechat.
So, what’s in it for you?
A base salary starting from £52,000 + superannuation, along with an additional £12,000 or more package for after-hours work, VSB registration, radiation license, AVA membership fees, up to two weeks study leave, four weeks annual leave AND assistance with HECS fees on top. Relocation and accommodation assistance is offered to help you settle into the area!
In addition twice a year a team of vets and nurses visit a remote part of Australia serving patients who don’t have regular access to Vet care. All these trips are paid for.
Based in Berri there is lots to do. Plenty of wineries, cafés, and places to eat. They have bushwalking trails, national parks, and safe rivers safe to swim in. Plenty of sports are on offer locally and with lots of Aussie bars, good schools for all ages what’s not to like?
Choosing a new practice is a big decision, you want opportunities to develop, grow your passions, work with a like-minded team, and a place where clients appreciate the good work you do.
So, what’s next?
Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date. We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.
Be the best vet you can be at a practice that cares
