Job Description

Boden Group deliver facilities maintenance services, project construction and refurbishment works to the Ministry of Defence and commercial clients at multiple sites in the South West and South East.

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Electrical Small Works Manager to lead and oversee a range of maintenance projects. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of engineers, coordinating schedules, and ensuring the successful delivery of maintenance tasks to the highest standards.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving operational performance and contributing to continuous improvement. An electrical bias and experience in the Qualified Supervisor (QS) role are essential to this position.

This role will be based on site at HMNB Portsmouth.

Main duties of the role:

Supervisory:

* Lead the efficient scheduling of planned, reactive, and remedial maintenance work for direct staff and subcontractors, ensuring tasks are completed within agreed KPIs.

* Manage additional works up to the value of £25,000 and, where required, up to £100,000.

* Take responsibility for all customer inquiries related to works under your control.

* Ensure that sufficient resources (labour, materials, tools, and equipment) are arranged for work completion.

* Focus on efficiency and continuous improvement to optimise team performance and reduce costs.

* Monitor performance using systems, data, and statistics, identifying areas for improvement.

* Conduct inspections on ongoing and completed works.

* Promote a proactive safety culture, conducting site safety inspections and audits.

* Lead by example to support company processes and ISO 9001 quality systems accreditation.

People Management:

* Manage a team of engineers, identifying skills gaps and training needs overseeing HR processes, such as development and performance management.

* Deliver communication processes such as toolbox talks and maintain the call-out rota.

Project Management:

* Responsible for scoping, costing and project managing life cycle replacement and client generated additional works projects

* Maintain project Records in line with Contract, Company and legislative requirements to include CDM, Business QMS (Quality Management System) processes and contract JSPs.

* Produce project plan for works under your control and amend to suit milestones and changes in the delivery plan to facilitate effective financial forecasting.

* Ensure all labour and material resources are available and planned

* Monitor suppliers to ensure compliance with client and company health and safety processes and procedures including CDM regulations

* Manage customer and client relationships

* Interrogate system reports to monitor project delivery and financial performance

* Promote a pro-active safety culture and conduct safety inspections on project works

* Ensure all project opportunities are assessed for commercial and safety risks and priced accordingly

* Responsible for the delivery on time and within budget of project works including pre-start meetings, health and safety, programme and snagging for a variety of project types including mechanical and electrical, building and minor works.

Required skills and abilities:

Essential

* 18th Edition (2391)

* Testing and Inspection qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395).

* Qualified Supervisor (QS) status

* Completed or willing to undertake IOSH Managing Safely and management development qualifications.

Desirable:

* Previous knowledge and experience of MoD contracts or work with security environments

* Completed or willing to work towards a lead management qualification

* SMSTS/IOSH/NEBOSH

* Over 5 years' experience in a similar position within the FM (Facilities Management) or related sector.
