Role: Engineer - Risktec M.05 Rail Consulting Team
Reports To: Team Leader – Risktec M.05 Rail Consulting Team
Location: Derby, UK. Office-based with flexible home working arrangements available upon agreement
Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Engineer to join our Risktec M.05 Rail Consulting Team. In this role, you will deliver a comprehensive range of Rail Consultancy services within the UK, covering areas such as rolling stock technical consultancy, maintenance and operations, rail safety management, strategic advisory, compatibility assessments, auditing, and technical assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality rolling stock engineering and safety consultancy services to clients both in the UK and internationally.
Support project delivery within your area of expertise, ensuring adherence to project budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
Develop experience to take on project leadership responsibilities.
Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing, client relationship management, and securing additional work.
Support other TÜV Rheinland / Risktec consultancy and assessment teams on projects related to rolling stock, on-track plant, signalling, and infrastructure.
Collaborate with TÜV Rheinland’s global rail teams to bid for and deliver international projects.
Represent Risktec at industry events such as marketing events and recruitment fairs.
Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and project alignment.
Continuously enhance your competence and knowledge in the railway industry, broadening your technical expertise.
Key Requirements:
MEng or BEng in a relevant discipline, or equivalent academic qualifications.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Proficient with MS Office software.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in rolling stock or other rail engineering disciplines.
Incorporated (or Chartered) Engineer status, or working towards this or an equivalent professional qualification.
Proficiency in additional languages.
Experience with CAD and/or Finite Element Analysis software.
Experience with reliability or fault tree analysis software.
Familiarity with safety management processes such as CSM-REA or EN5012x.
Experience in applying or assessing compliance with standards and codes of practice including Railway Group Standards, ENs, TSIs, and NTSNs.
Experience in safety or quality management system audits, either as a participant or leader.
Technical knowledge in one or more mechanical or electrical rolling stock systems or specialisms.
