Job Description

World Class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire (the role will be a hybrid position of working from home and being onsite 2-3 days per week on average) is currently looking to recruit a Technical Author subcontractor on an initial 6 month contract.

Hourly Rate: £50ph (Umbrella).

Contract Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)

Technical Author Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Author to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a talent for translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging documentation. You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to create and maintain high-quality materials that support our products and users.

Key Responsibilities:

Write, edit, and maintain technical documents, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, and online help resources.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze technical information.
Organize and structure content to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
Use documentation tools and content management systems to develop and manage content.
Ensure all documentation aligns with company branding and style guidelines.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and best practices to continually improve our documentation processes.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Technical Author, Technical Writer, or similar role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to explain them clearly to non-technical audiences.
Proficiency with documentation tools such as [Adobe, Confluence, or Microsoft Word etc…].
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development processes is a plus
