Database Administrator (MySQL & PostgreSQL)

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, UK
Job Type: UK based - fully remote (we can't provide sponsorship)
Salary: Competitive with performance-based bonusesDay-to-day of the role:

Design, implement, and maintain MySQL and PostgreSQL databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions as required.
Ensure data integrity and security through robust backup and recovery solutions.
Optimise database performance using indexing, query optimisation, and other techniques.
Collaborate with development teams to design and optimise database schemas and queries.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing essential technical support.
Develop and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including data models, schemas, and procedures.
Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
Conduct regular database maintenance tasks, such as updates, patches, and backups.
Stay informed about the latest database technologies and best practices to continually enhance system efficiency.Required Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on MySQL and PostgreSQL.
In-depth knowledge of database design, implementation, and maintenance.
Skilled in database performance tuning and optimisation.
Familiarity with database security practices and data protection regulations.
Proficiency in SQL and experience with database scripting and automation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
