Job Description

The Role

Fresh People are recruiting for an experienced QA Manager to oversee the quality and specification standards of fresh produce for our client based in Biggleswade.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a background in quality assurance or technical management within the fresh produce industry. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure that all aspects of product quality are accurately reported to the grower partners and depot team as relevant

* Ensure that any temperature abuse or other issues that can seriously affect product quality are immediately reported and product isolated

* Check that product packaging and detail meets or exceeds the customer’s and legal standards

* Inform the team of any non-conforming product (quality and packaging/ labelling) that is required to be sent for third party repacking or sorting.

* Advise the team of the order of use for stock arriving, based on quality assessment.

* To work efficiently and effectively ensuring that you contribute to your Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

* Responsibility to collect shelf-life samples and assessment, as required

* Visit and review quality standards of UK growers and packing sites, to ensure product is grown, packed and despatched to specification

* To clearly communicate between all colleagues in your team and your Line Manager in a timely manner

* Ability to implement and adapt new ways of working to ensure product is delivered to the client

Skills and Requirements:

* Proven experience in a quality assurance or technical management role in the fresh produce sector.

* Strong working knowledge of product grading and specification standards.

* Proficiency in using ERP systems and maintaining accurate records.

* Effective communication skills for liaising with internal and external teams.

* A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
