About our client
Our client is a specialist rehabilitation and recovery service based in the vibrant area of Leeds, West Yorkshire. Our 19-bed facility provides high-dependency care for adults living with complex mental health conditions, personality disorders, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and gender identity issues.
Our clients primary goal is to promote recovery, independence, and resilience, offering bespoke therapeutic programmes to help patients reintegrate into the community. As we continue to evolve and enhance our services, we are seeking a Director of Clinical Services (DoCS) to lead clinical operations and help shape the future of our hospital.
The Role of Director of Clinical Services (DoCS)
As Director of Clinical Services, you will be an integral part of the senior leadership team, with full responsibility for the strategic oversight and operational management of all clinical services within the hospital. This includes both the nursing and therapy teams, where you will lead efforts to ensure the delivery of the highest standard of patient care.
You will work closely with the Hospital Director to implement strategies that support the hospital’s vision and values, ensuring regulatory compliance and upholding the highest clinical standards. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a culture of quality improvement, ensuring outstanding patient outcomes, and leading the clinical governance framework.
Key Responsibilities
As Director of Clinical Services (DoCS), your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading the clinical services operation across two wards, ensuring high-quality patient care is delivered.
* Developing and implementing strategies to improve patient outcomes and the overall effectiveness of the clinical service.
* Driving the hospital’s clinical governance framework, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, clinical guidelines, and best practices.
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of integrated care to deliver exceptional patient experiences.
* Overseeing the management of the clinical budget, ensuring cost-effective service delivery while maintaining the highest quality standards.
* Providing visible and inspirational leadership, mentoring and supporting clinical staff to ensure high levels of engagement, development, and retention.
* Ensuring clinical teams meet and exceed quality standards and performance indicators.
* Leading quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits to continually raise the standards of care.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful as Director of Clinical Services, you will need the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
* Current NMC or HCPC registration.
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Ward Manager or in a similar supervisory or managerial role within a mental health or rehabilitation setting.
* Proven ability to manage clinical services operations, including nursing and therapy teams.
* A strong understanding of statutory regulations and the ability to implement and maintain compliance.
* Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate clinical teams.
* Experience in budget management, ensuring cost-effective care delivery.
* Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with both internal teams and external partners (e.g. commissioners, external professionals).
* A commitment to continuous professional development for yourself and your team.
Desirable
* A post-registration qualification in areas such as Leadership or Management.
* Experience leading quality improvement projects or clinical audits within a similar healthcare setting
