An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Chelmsford.
 
This role could suit an experienced mechanical engineer with understanding and experience of how optics work and interact with mechanical mounting. We’d like to hear from you if you have similar experience in space / avionics / defence / medical / science / automotive industries.

Role/Responsibilities:

Lead the design of mounting arrangements for optics
Review mounting arrangements designed by sub-contractors
Assist with requirements management of opto-mechanical technologies, as well as requirement derivation and reviews
Conduct a range of opto-mechanical analysis (e.g. tolerance, thermal, static, dynamic)
Design mechanical components
Support verification and testing
Produce gate review documentation
Liaise with stakeholders to ensure high quality standards are met across the development lifecycle
Produce designs using CAD packages 
Experience Required:

Knowledge of precision mechanical mounting of optics for structural, dynamic and thermal environments
Ability to review opto-mechanical designs
Competent with CAD packages
Experience of opto-mechanical design and analysis
Knowledge of requirements management
Experience preparing and presenting design documentation for gate reviews
