Garrard Building and Construction Limited is a family-run building company, established in 1946, specialising in insured building repairs.
Based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, we operate within an approximate 50 mile radius, covering areas of the South East, Midlands, Anglia and London.
We are focused on building long term relationships with our clients by adding real value to their own service offering and by providing excellent customer service.
Summary of Role:
Working within an established, family-run, building company, specialising in insured building repairs. With an expanding workload we are looking to recruit a Labourer/Ground Worker to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities - Experience in the following would be an advantage
Ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained throughout all operations.
Conduct routine grounds maintenance tasks, in accordance with company procedures and client requirements.
Apply your exceptional organisational and communication skills to coordinate tasks efficiently.
Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Manage and maintain tools and equipment, adhering to strict safety and quality guidelines.
Maintain a valid UK Driving licence for required travel.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Experience and knowledge of strict H&S operations and its practical implications
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing premium-quality outputs.
First Aid certification
Manual Handling certification
Proactive, hardworking, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Grounds Maintenance certifications Person (substations)
Competent Person (substations)
You must:
Hold a full UK drivers licence
Have at least 2 years’ experience working as a Labourer/Ground Worker
Be hardworking, punctual and reliable
Have a good work ethic
Be respectful towards clients and the public
Have pride in your work with a good eye for detail
Provide full references and provide proof of your right to work in the UK
Team player
Calm under pressure
Able to work to deadlines
Thorough and conscientious
Quality conscious
Pro-active/uses initiative
Honesty and integrity in dealings with others
Flexible approach
Complete a DBS check
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Normal start time on site is 8:00 am Work times will vary depending on the workload, you may be required from time to time to work outside of these hours, so flexibility is essential. Your normal daily breaks, which are unpaid, will be 45 minutes.

Company Benefits
All full-time Employees (excluding Directors) – based in the UK have a standard entitlement
of 20 days paid holiday per year (April 1st – March 31st). The 8 UK Bank and Public holidays
are in addition to the standard holiday entitlement. There is a pension scheme following a
qualifying period.
