Job Description
Experienced Veterinary Surgeon (Surgical Team Lead/Experienced Surgeon)
Full-time/Part-time – Bundoora, Melbourne – AUSTRALIA.
Salary £67,000-£82,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
Are you an experienced vet with a passion for surgery and a keen interest in expanding your skills?
Do you have a solid grounding in General Practice, Emergency, and Critical Care, looking to take the next step in your career?
Do you want to join an established and privately owned practice that has a proud history, dating back to 1969?
If so, we are looking for you!
Located in one of Melbourne’s fastest-growing suburbs, they offer a dynamic work environment with a wide range of cases across their General Practice, Emergency and Critical Care Centre (ECC), and 2 satellite clinics.
The Practice has recently taken on and refurbished the building next door and will be opening a newly renovated space to expand the GP portion of their practice, including a new treatment area and surgical suite in early 2025!
This position is designed for someone looking to advance their skills and gain insight into a potential specialty pathway. You will play a key role in enhancing the surgical services and supporting the development of the practices broader veterinary team.
This hospital has a real ‘family feel,’ about it where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. Without the shackles of a large vet group, decisions can be made quickly and ideas are encouraged.
With a loyal client base and outstanding reputation (check out their ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐reviews on Google ) it sees them care for and often work on interesting, challenging, and diverse cases.
This is a community of like-minded individuals; they love what they do and that makes them better vets. They collaborate, they discuss cases, and they learn from each other.
The team consists of both GP and Emergency vets, as well as a growing number of specialists in ECC and medicine, with a long-standing alumnus of former employees that have started their careers at this practice.
The current team boasts plenty of experience as well as some newer employees - a good mix of experience giving the best of both in terms of support and skill.
They are seeking a motivated, team-oriented vet who is eager to build on their surgical skills and take on a more advanced caseload while still being involved in GP and ECC work.
You will lead and engage with a team of experienced vets, junior vets, new grad and nursing staff, sharing your knowledge and expertise in surgical techniques.
You will also collaborate with specialist surgeons and other veterinary staff to manage and facilitate the follow-up of surgical patients.
The role predominantly Mon – Fri with 2-3 overnight ECC shifts per month. Plus the odd weekend to cover holidays.
Along with the role comes a competitive salary and excellent benefits that include bonus payments, relocation assistance (a fully self-contained one bed apartment is available for rent next to the clinic for example) a generous CPD allowance, and holiday entitlement. Salaries are reviewed regularly, with your contributions recognised and rewarded.
The clinic is in Bundoora, 15km northeast of Melbourne’s CBD. Plenty of facilities nearby, local shopping, bars, restaurants, and sports facilities everything is within walking distance. Close to parks, rivers, walking tracks, and a short drive to the wineries of Yarra Valley, what’s not to like?
So, what’s next?
Well, we can’t get the whole story in a job ad so send your CV – don’t worry if it’s not up to date we will answer any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.
Enjoy your new vet adventure on the other side of the world
