My client is a leading global offshore wind developer and operator with more than 7 GW developed around the world.
Project Development Director
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Commercial & Development team and regional leaders to identify, prioritize, and align key strategic projects for our future pipeline, shaping the development optimization roadmap.
- Actively engage in strategic discussions, offering fresh insights, creative problem-solving, and innovative ideas.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and collaborator for senior management, supporting decision-making and strategic direction.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of the commercial development strategy.
- Work closely with ExCom team members to enhance collaboration across departments and optimize interconnected processes, methodologies, and communication.
- Partner with Finance and Investment teams to secure debt and equity funding for development projects.
- Assist the Commercial & Development team in refining processes, tools, methodologies, and criteria for project selection.
- Work with cross-functional teams to explore value engineering opportunities throughout the project development lifecycle.
- Bridge the gap between commercial knowledge and other functional areas by fostering collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Develop strategies to maximize the value of development projects and portfolios, focusing on factors such as Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), return objectives, and market conditions.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and lessons-learned initiatives within the organization.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, technological advancements, competitor activity, and regulatory shifts to identify opportunities and challenges, adapting strategies as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including investors, project partners, and strategic partners within the industry.
- Communicate complex technical and commercial concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Participate in internal working groups, advisory committees, and steering boards, providing valuable input.
- Represent the company at relevant industry groups, events, and external engagements.
Your Profile:
- At least 10 years of experience in offshore wind and infrastructure investment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field an MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Fluency in both English and French.
- Proven success in business development and market expansion within the energy or related industries.
- Strong understanding of energy markets, emerging trends, regulatory dynamics, and competitive landscapes.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in navigating regulatory and public affairs challenges, particularly in emerging markets, is highly desirable.
