Haldane Group, Newry, Co Down.
For the first time in its 78-year history, the Haldane Group is seeking to appoint a non-family member as Group CEO.
The current CEO, David Haldane, will be stepping up into the role of Executive Chair, while Ian Haldane will transition to a Non-Executive Director (NED) position on the Board.
You’ll be a visionary leader with a knack for driving growth and innovation. As group CEO you’ll lead the UK’s 13th largest builder’s merchant (£179.8MN T/O) towards their ambitious goals. You’ll have a proven track record in leadership, building a strategic vision, and be an expert at fostering a cohesive team towards clear goals.
The Group CEO reports into the family board and leads the executive board.
Your Professional Experience:
* Leadership: Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team, ensuring the right people are in the right roles.
* Strategic Vision: Experience in driving change and transformation programs at a strategic level.
* Family-Owned Business: Understanding and appreciation of the dynamics of family-owned businesses.
* Growth Management: Proven track record of consistent business growth, ideally with experience of increasing customer satisfaction and employee engagement.
* Acquisitions: This is a growth-focused position, so you’ll have strategic-level experience integrating acquisitions into a wider business group.
* Digital Transformation: The company has completed a three-year digital transformation plan with all digital platforms current & operational, the new CEO must exploit the opportunities these bring to drive growth & productivity and accelerate these with AI implementation.

It is made up of Haldane Fisher NI, Haldane Fisher Isle of Man, Haldane Fisher UK, GE Robinson, Key Hardware, Plumbmaster and Bathline.
As a family-owned business, the Company has come a long way since its founding in the centre of Newry in 1946 by Bob Haldane. From these modest beginnings, the Company has expanded to 25 locations across Northern Ireland, England and the Isle of Man employing over 700 people. They are predominantly a chain of builder and plumber merchants supplying a huge range of products – everything from building materials to plumbing and heating, home improvement products to internal finish such as architectural ironmongery, bathrooms, doors and floors. The Group imports timber and timber products and is a leading manufacturer of machined timber as well as engineered roofing and flooring solutions in Ireland.
