IT Systems Engineer in Merstham - CV-Library

Arcas Technology is partnered with a leading Telecommunications company who are currently looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join their business on a permanent basis.

This role is to assist in the system engineering, design & development processes within the team. You will use bespoke and open-source software, primarily Linux based to bring additional value to the business’s in-house and customer solutions.

Key Accountabilities

* To act as in-house Product expert on selected systems and applications, keeping abreast of new developments in the IT & Communications industry.

* To provide accurate and timely technical information or analyses on a variety of engineering investigations.

* As part of a team to support the design, requirement capture and development according to Agile design principles (incl. the SCRUM methodology) of the suite of value added services.

* To produce and maintain detailed technical documentation relating to the new solutions/developments and to work with the Product Management team on ensuring that any new developments are rolled out effectively across the organization.

* Where required to support the Product Management team and / or the Account Managers in dealings with customers on engineering issues, attend meetings and conduct demonstrations in support of Sales.

* To own, investigate and resolve escalated engineering service issues.

* Lead by example to develop and maintain personal technical expertise in company bespoke products and security best practise.

Key Skills

* Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu), Apache, MySQL)

* TCP/IP networking concepts including Routing, Switching, Firewalling, including Layer 7 firewalls

* Scripting (Bash, Perl)

* Programming knowledge (php, CodeIgniter/MVC, SQL)

* VoIP platforms
