Job Description

Our client is an international engineering company, specialising in energy and water.

They have an immediate requirement for a Senior Quantity Surveyor from a water background to join one of their key Joint Venture projects, delivering a five-year contract to design, construct, and commission a new sewage treatment works. The project will comprise the development and construction of preliminary, primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment stages.

As a key member of the team reporting into the JV Commercial Manager, you will liaise with customer representatives, subcontractors and other third parties on commercial issues including the agreement of variations, claims and any additional payments.

Senior Quantity Surveyor roles and responsibilities:

Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting at both project and business unit level.
Work with project delivery teams to forecast predicted spend and cash recovery and ensure that both are kept in line with the target.
Carrying out cost management including forecasting, updating the monthly CVR, cost and commercial plans.
Help ensure that any main contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate, with commercial risks identified.
Ensure that the supply chain is engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions.
Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting, and preparing applications for payment.
Supervise and mentor other Quantity Surveyors and reports.Senior Quantity Surveyor requirements:

Previous water industry experience.
Degree or HNC/HND Quantity Surveying or construction related qualification.
Minimum 5 years' experience working on infrastructure projects, including water.
Familiarity with NEC (3 or 4) forms of contract.
Experienced procuring and managing subcontractors, including chairing meetings and managing negotiations.
Able to produce accurate monthly forecasting, challenge resources and costs, good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis, and maintain deadlines in line with the monthly commercial calendar.
Ability to encourage, support and mentor junior members of staff.
Excellent communication, numeric and computer literacy skills, proficient in Microsoft Office.Senior Quantity Surveyor Benefits:
