Machine Shop Supervisor

Sutton-in- Ashfield, Nottinghamshire

£32,000 - £34,000

We are seeking an experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to lead and oversee the daily operations of our CNC machining department. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in CNC machine programming, setting, and operation, along with proven leadership skills to manage and guide a team. This role requires excellent organizational abilities to ensure production targets are met, machine maintenance is scheduled, and documentation is kept up to date.

Key Responsibilities for the Machine Shop Supervisor

* CNC Machine Operations:

* Program, set, and operate CNC machines.

* Train and support staff in the proper operation of CNC machines.

* Assist in the development of new parts, including drawing, programming, and machining.

* Production Management & Team Leadership

* Assign jobs and tasks to Machine Shop personnel based on production schedules and priorities.

* Train and mentor new team members to ensure safe and efficient operation of machinery.

* Create and maintain job cards, production schedules, and work orders.

* Monitor and manage stock levels of essential materials ensure that adequate stock is available to avoid production delays

* Machine Maintenance:

* Oversee regular machine maintenance and ensure all equipment is in proper working condition.

* Arrange for engineer callouts for any machine breakdowns when necessary.

* Health & Safety Compliance:

* Keep all necessary logs and documentation up to date, including crane/forklift checks, emergency door logs, and machine check logs.

Requirements for the Machine Shop Supervisor

* Extensive experience in CNC machine programming, setting, and operating.

* Experience in developing new parts through drawing, programming, and machining.

* Good understanding of machine maintenance and scheduling engineer callouts.

* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.

* Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a machine shop desirable but not essential.
