Travelling for work purposes: The postholder will be expected to regularly travel between sites in the conduct of their duties.

Summary

The post holder is responsible for the management of specific elements of servicing, maintenance, testing and validation service of medical devices and medical equipment within Trust.

As an Estates Officer, the post holder will manage a cost effective and efficient service that supports the corporate aims of the Trust in meeting its aims of quality of service commensurate with a modern and efficient Health Service.

Working as a member of an Estates Medical Devices Team, the post holder will help manage and co-ordinate maintenance services for medical devices and medical equipment throughout the Trust’s estate.

The post holder will maintain the Trust’s Asset Management System in respect of medical device and medical equipment ensuring that data quality and completeness is maintained at all times.

Responsibilities (But not limited to)

Allocate work to and supervise staff within designated areas, ensuring efficient management of workload

Undertake as may be required any other duties, which are necessary to support the efficient operation of the estate management function.

Provide professional advice to technical and non-technical staff in relation to the management of medical devices and medical equipment.

The forward planning, development, implementation and review of maintenance policies and schedules to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all medical devices and medical equipment.

Implementation and efficient management of the medical devices and medical equipment asset register. This includes surveys, audits, condition reports, long and short term maintenance replacement programmes.

Ensuring the commissioning of medical devices and medical equipment. is carried out as per agreed protocols and in accordance with relevant Statutory Standards, Codes of Practice, Health & Safety Guidance, Health Technical Memoranda and Building Notes.

Provide maintenance services utilising both in-house staff and external contractors throughout a sector of the Trust.

Ensure medical devices and medical equipment are maintained to standards that are in keeping with high quality patient/client care services and reflect the risk associated with the impact a failure would have on the quality of care provided by the Trust.

Review and update policies and procedures that support the provision of an efficient maintenance and operations service.

Contributes to compiling a comprehensive maintenance plan, constantly reviewing and implementing the plan and ensuring the effectiveness of this element of service delivery meets the needs of the service.

Prepare briefs including outline specifications, drawings and budget costs for medical device and medical equipment replacement schemes that may be executed by internal/external consultants.

Knowledge and Skills & Experience

Experience in managing equipment and up-to-date methods of maintenance planning.

Experience in the control and deployment of in-house maintenance staff and/or contractors.

Knowledge of current health & safety legislation and best practice guidance associated with medical devices.

Experience of people management, leadership and organisational skills.

Experience of managing in house staff and/or contractors.

Experience in risk management and health & safety standards.

Experience of working with stakeholders, both internal and external to an organisation, to achieve successful outcomes.

Experience of successfully delivering performance initiatives making improvements to service delivery.
