We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Math Instructor to join our specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Southend. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with additional needs, helping them achieve their full potential in both education and personal development.

Position Overview:

As a Math Instructor in our SEMH school, you will work with students who have a range of emotional and behavioral challenges. You will play a key role in delivering engaging and accessible math lessons that are tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. Your experience with pupils who have faced similar challenges will be instrumental in helping create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering differentiated math lessons to small groups of students, ensuring each lesson meets the specific needs of learners with SEMH.
Developing individualized learning plans in line with EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans) to support both academic and personal growth.
Supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning by employing a range of engagement strategies and fostering resilience.
Collaborating closely with teaching assistants and the wider team to ensure students receive holistic support.
Monitoring and assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback to boost confidence and attainment.
Contributing to a calm, structured, and nurturing environment, ensuring that the emotional well-being of each student is prioritized.

What We’re Looking For:

Previous experience working in an SEMH or SEN setting, preferably with secondary-age students.
Strong subject knowledge in mathematics, with the ability to adapt lessons to meet a variety of learning needs.
A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build strong relationships and trust with students.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to collaborate with staff, students, and families.
A commitment to promoting positive behavior and creating a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

Benefits:

Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
A supportive, collaborative working environment with ongoing professional development opportunities.
The chance to make a real difference in the lives of students who need it most.
A focus on staff well-being and work-life balance.
If you're a compassionate and motivated Math Instructor looking for a rewarding opportunity to help transform the lives of young people with SEMH needs, we’d love to hear from you
