Job Description

I am looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, or Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join my client, a dynamic team in Southampton, working on high-performance solutions for the yachting industry. This is a full-time, office-based role within my client’s state-of-the art facility in Southampton.

In this role, the successful Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Lead Mechanical Design Engineer you will collaborate closely with the Head of Design, contributing to innovative engineering solutions that span the entire product development lifecycle—from concept generation to final drafting. This position will focus on mechanical design engineering, calculations, and the application of finite element (FE) analysis to ensure optimal performance and quality.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Package

Salary: £55,000-£65,000 (dependent on experience)

Work directly with the Head of Design to develop new mechanical designs and expand existing product lines.
Lead both new and ongoing projects, managing the full lifecycle from initial concept through to final drafting and production-ready drawings.
Perform detailed engineering calculations, utilizing both manual methods and SolidWorks FE analysis.
Ensure all designs comply with quality standards and industry regulations.
Guide and support junior team members to deliver high-quality, manufacturable designs.Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Requirements:

Strong conceptual design and engineering skills with a deep understanding of load paths and mechanical systems.
Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks, for 3D modelling and drafting.
Knowledge of material properties, with composite design experience being a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field
Minimum of 5 years’ experience
