Purpose of the Role Carnsew Quarry (part of the Colas Ltd Group) is a quarrying business based near Falmouth, in Cornwall. We now have a permanent requirement for a Plant Operator to join a dedicated and hardworking team. Skill sets can vary in this role, depending on equipment operated and licences held, so we have invested in a tier system to ensure our valued workforce are trained, developed and compensated accordingly.

Main Responsibilities

As Plant Operator, you will work in compliance with the quarry regulations, company instructions, Manager’s rules and safe working practices. The plant operator will operate plant equipment in strict compliance with manufacturer’s instructions and perform daily checks on plant machinery. You will complete the required paperwork, assist the maintenance team, undertake sentry duties during blasting activities and attend inductions, toolbox talks and all appropriate briefings.

Ideal Candidate To succeed in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate a strong work ethic, have good communication skills, be flexible and adaptable and be able to work as an effective part of the team. Ideally, you’ll have experience of working in the quarrying industry or operated heavy or plant machinery. You should also be happy to work outdoors.
