Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon, Canberra, Australia £42k - £68k.

You are an ambitious vet who wants to make the most of your career.

Working all hours for a tired practice that doesn’t care and isn’t what you signed up for!

Sitting at your desk on a rare break and the thought of working overseas excites you.

How about a new adventure 10,000 miles away?

The outdoor lifestyle, the mountains, the beaches, the long blue-sky days, and their ‘happy-go-lucky’ attitude to life. Australia has it all.

Curious. Tempted. Read on.

What if we knew of a modern independent in Canberra that is a cooperative with 11 practices? Each has their own unique personality, is run as an individual practice with a real ‘family feel’ and is staffed by dedicated teams who want their best for patient and practice.

Luckily, we do and this one is hiring.

With two more sites opening next year they are expanding and hiring for growth. They are looking for a SA vet to join their team. Whatever your interests they will help by finding a role in the clinic that is the best fit for you.

This is a business where everyone pulls together when there’s work, and relaxes when it’s time. A real community. Without the shackles of a large vet group, decisions can be made quickly and new ideas are encouraged.

New graduates are welcome to apply, but what is most important is an empathetic vet, a real team player who wants to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in from the start.

They have a structured new graduate program which includes providing a mentor from one of the other practices in the group plus continuous CPD, financial support, and on-the-job learning. With 60 vets and a vast range of expertise across the practices, you will never be short of a helping hand.

If you want to help the broader community and give back, they work with charities such as Pets in the Park, Domestic Violence Support, local animal rescue organisations and they run their own charitable organisation providing animal health programs in indigenous communities in the Northern Territory.

They are super flexible on hours here. You can work F/T or P/T with the hours and days of the week being negotiable. You will be on a rotating Saturday morning roster of roughly 1:4 but there are no Sundays, public holidays, or OOH’s. Work-life balance means a lot here.

So, what’s in it for you?

$80- $130k depending on experience and skills, 4 weeks annual leave plus 1 week study, payment of initial veterinary registration, a wellness allowance, Medicare, a relocation allowance, and accommodation provided on arrival.

The practice owners are committed to supporting the development of all the vets. There is a substantial CPD allowance and active learning is encouraged, supported and facilitated by all the other vets in the practices.

For those who are interested, there are leadership opportunities and a potential for partnership in the future.

Located in the beautiful city of Canberra, you have everything on your doorstep. Great ‘Aussie bars,’ restaurants, shops, museums, plenty of outdoor sports plus the Brindabella National Park is only a stone’s throw away.

Fancy a weekend away? With 2 hours you could be skiing on the mountain or hitting those amazing Australian Beaches!

So, what’s next?

Send your CV, don’t worry if it’s not up to date.

We can’t get the whole story in a job ad so ask any questions. I’ll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Enjoy being a vet again on the other side of the world
