Job Description

At British Gypsum we are looking for a Mine Electrician, to work in a small, focussed, multi-disciplinary team, at our Mine in East Leake. You'll participate in delivering continuous improvement projects as well as ongoing maintenance and installation of outbye and inbye infrastructure.

Your role will be critical in ensuring production targets are met, meaning an overall positive experience for our customers.

This role operates a staggered 3 shift pattern, with a week of nights, week of afternoons and a week of days including Saturday and Sunday, followed by a rostered week off.

What we're looking for:

You will have undertaken a recognised electrical apprenticeship (or similar)
You must be a time-served electrician with experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of heavy equipment ideally gained in a processing plant, a mine or a similar heavy industrial environment.
Understanding of HV/LV distribution systems up to and including 11kV
Familiarity with computer/PLC control systems plus conveyor and pumping systems would be advantageous.
Effective Communication Skills
Trained and competent with requirements of the Electricity at Work regulations What you will be doing:

You will be accountable for your own and your colleagues' health and safety, whilst ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest possible standard. You will be expected to have an analytical mind and be able to apply those skills to problem solving and decision making and be able to clearly communicate with others.

Demonstrating a positive and proactive approach, with a continuous improvement mindset, as well as both reactive and planned electrical maintenance work.

In addition:

Follow risk assessments and method statements, ensuring their suitability for tasks.
Utilise the Permit to Work system, issuing permits as required under the relevant authorisation levels.
Take responsibility for electrical isolations per the isolation procedure.
Plan, assess risks and execute workload efficiently.
Make informed decisions associated with hazard identification and risk management.
Carry out remedial or preventative work based on inspection reports and discussions.
Provide constructive feedback to maximise team effectiveness.
Offer suggestions for improvements in safety, performance and working practices.
Be a flexible and proactive team member, contributing knowledge and experience to the group.
