Quality Engineer

Bedfordshire

Up to £38,000 per annum

Permanent

Summary:

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the daily quality control within manufacturing, assembly and despatch departments of the company.

Main responsibilities include:

* Participate in the driving of improvements throughout shopfloor quality throughout the implementation of formal procedures and best practice

* Effectively manage and maintain the sample approval process

* Carry out internal audits and support purchasing with supplier auditing

* Monitoring and supporting performance improvement through data capture and reporting including management review meetings

* Specify shopfloor processes and procedures in collaboration with operational teams

* Liaise closely with Purchasing Team to establish supplier quality performance criteria and to monitor performance

* Ensure compliance with ISO 9001

* Investigate and report non-conformances & customer complaints

* Co-ordinate and control equipment calibration and maintenance

* Conduct quality meetings including the documentation of quality issues and providing relevant feedback

* Identify new processes and equipment to streamline processes and provide cost reduction where possible

* Deliver quality training & materials to all new starters

* Design new / alter existing QMS documents as required

Experience required includes:

* Candidates must have previous experience of working in a Quality Engineer role within the Manufacturing and Assembly sector

* Experience of metalworking processes including punching, brake press/folding, powder coating, welding and assembly would be very advantageous

* Be familiar with the storage, handling and movement of finished metal products, assemblies and components

* Possess excellent time-management and organisational skills

* Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels and from variety of backgrounds

* Have a solid understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages

* Be able to analyse complex situations and deliver well-balanced decisions

* Have an excellent use of English both verbally and written

* Be competent in numerical tasks
