Your new company, Hays Accountancy and Finance, are recruiting and working in partnership with a large public sector organisation for the appointment of a Staff Officer Accountant offering a competitive market-leading salary and public benefits.

This role will be a part of the Housing Regulation Branch, located within the Department for Communities (DfC). The Department is the Regulatory Authority for Registered Housing Associations (RHA), also known as Housing Associations, in Northern Ireland.
Our branch undertakes Social Housing Regulatory activity on behalf of the Department. Our objective is to deliver a modern, tailored, proportionate and cost-effective regulatory process which protects the interests of the tenants. We do this by setting high level, outcome focussed standards which RHAs are expected to comply with. Our key functions are to:

Monitor, assess and report on the performance of RHAs and the NIHE in relation to housing activities
Monitor their financial well-being and standards of governance and, where appropriate, increase our engagement with them to achieve our objectives.
To create through regulation a social housing sector that is viable, efficient, well governed and able to deliver homes to meet a range of needs
To ensure social housing tenants are protected and are provided opportunities to be involved with their RHAYour new role

Undertaking annual regulatory financial assessments of Registered Housing Associations;
Reviewing the performance of Registered Housing Associations on a quarterly basis;
Managing mortgage and disposal notifications from Registered Housing Associations;
Supporting the work of the branch in delivering an effective regulatory regime includes advice and guidance for the social housing sector.What you'll need to succeed

Applicants must be fully qualified accountants, having successfully completed the professional examinations, and be a full Member of one of the following bodies:
Chartered Accountants Ireland;
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants;
The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy
The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland

It would be desirable to have previous experience in the following areas;
