Job Description

Job Title: Mainframe Tester-Payments

Location: UK, Chester (Hybrid-3 days a week onsite)

Responsibilities:

* Conduct end-to-end testing of mainframe-based payment systems, including transaction processing, batch jobs, and interfaces with external systems.

* Develop and execute test cases, scripts, and procedures to verify application functionality, performance, and adherence to business requirements.

* Collaborate closely with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.

* Perform system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and regression testing to validate changes and enhancements.

* Identify, analyse, and document defects and issues encountered during testing, and work with development teams to resolve them promptly.

* Maintain test environments, test data, and test artifacts to support ongoing testing activities.

* Participate in test planning, estimation, and review meetings to ensure testing milestones are achieved on schedule.

* Provide status updates, test results, and metrics to project teams and management stakeholders.

Requirements/Qualifications and Skills:

* Proven experience as a Mainframe Tester, with a focus on Payments projects and the banking domain.

* In-depth knowledge of mainframe technologies (e.g., COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS) and payment protocols (e.g., ISO 8583, SWIFT).

* Strong understanding of payment processing workflows, including clearing and settlement processes.

* Experience with testing tools such as IBM Rational Functional Tester, HP Quality Centre, or similar.

* Familiarity with test automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Selenium, Python) is a plus.

* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.

* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

* Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders
