Electrical Technician
We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Electrical Technicians with recent experience of completing ‘hands-on’ maintenance and fault finding on electrical plant and equipment to maintain the integrity of electrical systems ensuring compliance with company and statutory requirements and in response to breakdowns as well as perform other maintenance and operational tasks on COMAH Top Tier storage Terminals and pipeline systems.
This position would suit someone with Industrial or Commercial Electrical experience. The Electrical Technician must have a FULL UK driving license for this position.
Main Duties & Responsibilities (typical day to day)
* Provide maintenance and inspection services to maintain 98% plant availability targets within COMAH Top Tier and Lower Tier storage Terminals and pipeline systems
* Participate in an out-of-hours call-out roster for trouble shooting and corrective maintenance on a 24/7 365 day basis.
* Work additional hours as reasonably expected to fulfil extraordinary maintenance and inspection duties and project work which will occasionally necessitate night working.
* Responsible for the delivery of planned and corrective maintenance and inspection tasks at allocated sites in accordance with set targets including the upkeep of the computerised maintenance management systems and plant history files.
* Fulfil the role of Authorised Electrical Person including authorisation for High Voltage working.
* Provide operational support as may be required from time to time and respond to emergency situations including dealing with emergency authorities and statutory bodies.
* Identify requirements and monitor the availability of spare equipment, components and materials to ensure critical plant and equipment can be sustained in the event of foreseeable breakdowns.
* Obtain quotations and raise orders for goods and services required for maintenance and inspection responsibilities in accordance with the company purchasing system and budget constraints.
* Supervise colleagues and contractors in safe systems of work, including risk assessment and gas testing procedures.
* Provide on the job training and support to new staff updating training records, training plans and competency assessments as required.
* Identify and prepare work scopes and justifications for engineering project works to enhance, modify or replace existing plant and equipment ensuring integrity is maintained and equipment is supportable.
* Act as a focal point for engineering projects having an input into design and installation works to ensure projects are planned and completed with due regard to requirements for safety and operations.
* Deputise for the Electrical Supervisor during periods of absence.
* Participate and contribute positively to company working groups and committees.
* Attain and maintain COMPEX competency to be authorised to work on Ex rated electrical equipment in compliance with DSEAR / ATEX legal requirements and company standards.
* Complete maintenance, testing and adjustments on instrumentation including work on intrinsically safe circuits and SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems).
* Attain and maintain competency as an authorised person to work on electrical power and control systems including High Voltage/Low Voltage with responsibility to produce and approve switching plans and isolation plans.
* Complete and supervise maintenance, fault finding and repair on all EC&I systems within operational sites. Systems include High Voltage/Low Voltage switchgear, intrinsically safe circuits, Ex equipment, UPS systems, motor starters, motor drives, PLC’s, flow computers, fiscal metering, level gauging, vapour detection, fire detection, fire suppression, security.
* Complete fault finding on mechanical systems within competency limits including 24/7 breakdown response.
Requirements (qualifications, education, experience and/or skills):
Essential
* Proficient knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations including awareness of requirements for hazardous area electrical equipment and High Voltage systems.
* A recognised professional qualification in a relevant electrical discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard.
* Experience including responsibility for supervising staff and contractors completing electrical maintenance and installation work in an industrial High Hazard environment.
* Recent experience of completing ‘hands-on’ maintenance and fault finding on electrical plant and equipment.
* Numerate, good command of English language both written and oral.
* Full driving licence
