Job Description

Our client is seeking a reliable, self-assured Marine Service Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of marine watercraft. Responsibilities include regular inspection and testing of engines, propellers, and steering mechanisms, as well as replacing valves and bolts.

The company, based near Cookham offers a friendly, loyal and professional working environment.

Previous experience of working with Volvo Penta engines as an Engineer or Technician, or within the leisure industry is highly desirable along with excellent attention to detail, strong self-discipline and great hand-eye coordination.

You may have experience as a Diesel Fitter, Plant mechanic, Agricultural Engineer or Mechanical Engineer which will overlap to the skills required.

Salary, £33,000 - £36,000 per annum plus excellent benefits including a bonus and company vehicle. You will be required to travel to other sites, but never further than 1 hour away.

Responsibilities:

* To service and repair marine engines and associated mechanical equipment in customers’ boats

* The installation of new engines

* To service and repair industrial engines as required

* The service and repair of outdrives

* The service and repair of on-board auxiliary systems

* To anti-foul customers’ boats

* To pressure wash and cleaning hulls and topsides of customers’ boats

* The minor fibre-glass repair of customers’ boats; the organisation of large repairs by third party contractors

* The maintenance and repair of customers’ boats

* Any other duties as required by the Marine Engineer – Supervisor

* Assisting with the craning of boats into and out of the water

* Maintain familiarity with current product lines and features

* Attendance on training courses as required

* Participation in stock takes as required

Experience and skills required:

* Previous experience in the leisure industry

* Practical experience with tools and equipment used in marine maintenance

* Ability to read and understand technical manuals

* Good verbal and written communication skills

* Excellent customer service skills

* A willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback

* The ability to carry heavy loads and to stand, sit, and stoop for prolonged periods

* Full driving licence
