Overall Purpose

Take a lead role in accountability for the delivery of services to clients in conjunction with the London team; take/share principal client contact responsibilities and be responsible and accountable for the development of client relationships.

Have a strong understanding of and focus on sectors including Financial Services and Real Estate.
To manage a team of accounting staff (from purchase ledger to qualified level) that provides a timely, quality service to their clients. Demonstrate and develop high standards of performance within the team. Assist and support the team in providing a high-quality day to day accounting service to a portfolio of clients and help transition clients to the team.

At all times promote the unified Outsourcing business to the wider Firm through visibly strong personal
performance, active promotional activities, networking internally and externally.

Responsibilities

Engagement Management

  • Schedule, supervise and review work of the team to ensure appropriate standards are met
  • Measure and improve efficiencies
  • Ensure effective controls are in place to ensure compliance with RSM Tax and Accounting policies and procedures
  • Understand and enable the team to prepare accurate management accounts, adding value
  • wherever possible (technical, problem solving)
  • Ensure client deadlines & expectations are met or exceeded (client focus, managing self and
    others, goals/results focus)
  • High quality service provided to all clients (client focus, attention to detail/quality)
  • Performance of the team is controlled and monitored against set targets and procedures so that client expectations are met or exceeded.

    Team Management

  • Monitor the workloads of all team members and provide cover where necessary to ensure that work is delivered and quality maintained
  • Coaching and developing of team on an ongoing basis, identifying individual’s strengths and development areas
  • Conducting appropriate reviews and appraisals of team members
  • Be involved in the recruitment of team members and taking responsibility for completion of their induction
  • Ensuring team is aware of its priorities and goals, and that team members are working together to achieve these
  • Hold team meetings and positively contribute to team manager meetings with the aim of enhancing performance of the team
  • Identify solutions to any problems that arise and working with others to put these solutions into practice
  • Display a good working knowledge of all relevant software packages (e.g. Netsuite, NAV, Sage, Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Set an example to the team in terms of client service and personal behaviour. Develop key skills through RSM training programmes
  • Look for opportunities to improve performance and procedures.

Personal and professional qualities

The role requires:

  • Ideally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with post qualification experience and strong technical and management skills
  • Motivated to provide the highest quality service to clients through effective management of the team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with people at all levels
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively for self and other members of the team
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong people management skills
  • Strong client relationship building skills, including the ability to identify new service opportunities
  • Good presentation and client meeting skills
  • Strong IT skills, experienced in computerised accounts production and intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Motivated to provide the highest quality service to clients
  • Be solution-focussed and have the ability to work well using own initiative
  • Possess excellent people skills.
