Job Description
An SEN School in Christchurch are currently seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible.
The school caters for young people aged 7-16 years old, who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), complex needs and challenging behaviour. The school can also support students with other associated difficulties such as ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of the students with various needs. You will work closely with the teaching staff and contribute to creating a safe, engaging, and stimulating learning environment. Your primary focus will be to encourage independence, promote positive behavior, and provide tailored support to meet the individual needs of the students.
This is a full time position, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm), term time only.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
You will need to have Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) Grades C or above or Grades 4 – 9.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to different situations.
